Newsday, the Long Island and New York City newspaper, is promoting an iPad app with “Flypaper”, a humorous television commercial which reserves something for the power of paper. A man reads Newsday on his iPad while his family eats breakfast. His focus on the news is strained by the presence of a pesky fly. A voiceover tells us that the new Newsday iPad app is better than the newspaper in all kinds of ways, except for one. The commercial was taken off YouTube by Newsday days after its launch, perhaps over concerns raised by Apple about the splintered glass. However the ad is back now in viral form.

The Newsday app ad was developed at The Brooklyn Brothers by creative director Guy Barnett, copywriter Mike Pierantozzi, art director Clarissa Patrianova Valaeys, and producer Tina Lam.
Filming was shot by director Adam Goldstein via Harvest Films, Santa Monica, with executive producers Bonnie Goldfarb and Scott Howard, head of production/producer Rox Sexton, line producer Job Messner and director of photography Tristan Sheridan.
Editor was Aaron Langley of Cosmo Street, New York.
Visual effects were producer at Switch FX, New York, led by Visual effects supervisor Jon Magel and executive producer Diana Dayrit.
